Glenfiddich Interactive Kiosk

Last updated: Jan. 16, 2020, 2:28 p.m.

A great promotional interactive kiosk hosted on the viewing floor at The Shard in London. Users answered a series of questions to discover which type of Glenfiddich cocktail suited them. At the end of the quiz, a card was printed for the user to go and order the real drink from the pop up bar.

To have the opportunity to do a Kiosk installation in the Shard was something we couldn't miss. Working with the team at Glenfiddich the experience for the touchscreen was agreed and hardware put in place. The whole floor was Glenfiddich branded with Whisky Barrels piled up around the interactive experience. Having something live for this long is rare, we usually do events which last a few days! However, the software and hardware worked seamlessly for the whole event, and the team were really pleased with the exeprience overall.

This interactive display was incredibly successful and was live throughout the summer.

Deepmind Reinforcement Learning

Last updated: Jan. 16, 2020, 2:17 p.m.

A homage back to the Atari 2600 8-bit titles, an interactive display like nothing else!

To showcase how Deepmind uses Reinforcement Learning for AI we created this game, with our friends at Gramfilm, to create an interactive wall at the Cheltenham Science Fair. The idea is you play the game without instructions, then play again once you have learnt what’s good and what isn’t. Trial and error!

Reinforcement learning is how Deepmind learns. Basically trial and error! We wanted to create a game that Children would migrate to, to bring them to the stand. We were also very aware that once they have the controller, they won’t want to put it down. With this in mind are homage to the Atari 2600 used an original controller from the 1970s.

Results:

The most popular game at the event, we had to limit games to 30 seconds each and only two rounds to play to make sure everyone got a turn!

Google Android Droid Racing

Last updated: Jan. 16, 2020, 2:01 p.m.

A project created for Google Android for their developer conference.

The perfect combination of design, development and hardware.

Users at the event would race each other by answering questions on touchscreen kiosks (powered by Android Pixel C Tablets)t. Every correct answer would move their piece further along the track!

Quite simple the most bonkers, biggest and boldest project the team have created. Four touchscreens, all synchronized with a quiz, a 2m x 1m arcade racing game with real Androids on horseback running along conveyor belts. What more could you ask for? This really pushed the team, and really made something special. Linking the physical world with digital to make something that even developers were impressed with was a challenge.

Results:

The teams at Android and Google loved it, and our machine has travelled the globe delighting people!
